History PeopleSoft
Didirikan pada tahun 1987 oleh David Duffield dan Ken Morris, PeopleSoft awalnya berkantor pusat di Walnut Creek, California sebelum pindah ke Pleasanton, California. Duffield membayangkan sebuah client-server Sistem Integral versi 'paket HRMS mainframe populer. Setelah Integral menolak pembangunan, Duffield dirilis untuk melanjutkan upaya ini sendiri, dan PeopleSoft dilahirkan. PeopleSoft versi 1, dirilis pada akhir tahun 1980-an, adalah orang pertama yang sepenuhnya terintegrasi, kuat client-server aplikasi HRMS suite. [ 1] PeopleSoft memperluas jajaran produk untuk menyertakan Modul Financials di 1.992-3, Distribusi di 1.994-5, dan Manufaktur pada tahun 1996 (melalui Red Pepper Acquisition).
Perusahaan yang diperoleh J. D. Edwards pada tahun 2003. Untuk membedakan produk bekas dengan orang-orang Edwards, PeopleSoft berganti nama kedua lini produk. Pada Januari 2005, PeopleSoft diakuisisi oleh Oracle Corporation.

peoplesoft awalnya berasitektur Client-server kemudian seiring berjalnnya waktu peoplesoft mengalami perubahan ke Web-Centric Design yang biasa disebut Pure Internet Architecture (PIA) dengan versi 8 nya.
Salah satu feature terpenting dari Peoplesoft PIA tidak ada kode yang diperlukan di client dan tidak perlu juga menambahkan plugin atau JVM.

Because PeopleSoft's product suite (also branded PeopleSoft) was initially based on a client-server architecture. The entire software suite moved to a web-centric design called Pure Internet Architecture (PIA) with the release of PeopleSoft Version 8. The new format allowed all of a company's business functions to be accessed and run on a web browser. Originally, a small number of security and system setup functions still needed to be performed on a fat client machine; however, this is no longer the case. One important feature of PeopleSoft's PIA is that no code is required on the client - there is no need for additional plugins, or JVMs such as the Jinitiator requiredfor older Oracle Applications.
